Lawrence & Gibson exclusively publishes literary fiction with odd, but regular detours into socio-culturo-political satire. We have a very strong preference for novels.
We don't publish non-fiction, poetry or more specific fiction genres (crime, romance, legal thrillers, sci-fi, historical fiction etc) or short story collections.
All of our authors take part in printing, binding and guillotining our books. So the ability to spend some time in Wellington to do this is a requirement.
If you'd like to know more about how we publish, listen to Murdoch's interview about the collective on RNZ or read through the 9 fun facts, especially #9 on what the publishing collective aspect mean.
Please send submissions in .doc or .docx format to [email protected] - please let us know in your submission if AI has been used in your writing, editing, formatting and/or submission letter.
We have recently been receiving more submissions with obvious AI aspects in both cover letter, content and editing. In reponse we are looking for pricklier work that hasn't been smoothed over by generic over-editing or over-writing. This fits with our general approach to publishing.
